Date for the Diary - Sunday 1st July - Northern Universities vs Longhirst Allstars

On Sunday 1st July, Longhirst will be hosting an Invitation XI from around the world which will be taking on the Northern Universities elite in a Charity event for the Great North Air Ambulance fund. The Longhirst team will include several ex-Durham players including Martin Speight and Nicky Phillips along with professional cricketers playing in the region including our very own Blake Reynolds.

The event is being supported by Northern Rock and Longhirst, but is looking for as much support for the cause as possible, and therefore trying to encourage as many people to come along as possible. Durham CCC and Longhirst will be donating prizes to a raffle draw, and there will be BBQ’s, a beer tent, live music and plenty more going on during the afternoon to make it an enjoyable day for everyone. We would like to encourage kids, parents and seniors alike to come along and support the event.

The day will consist of two 20/20 matches between the two teams played in true 20/20 style with coloured kits, entrance music and hopefully plenty of big hitting!! In between there will be a ‘Coaching Masterclass’ held by a couple of the old Durham pro’s for kids from around the area. Flicx cricket will also be running cricket games throughout the day for spectators to participate in, with their own ‘Flicx’ facilities.

The day should be a fantastic chance to watch some entertaining, high-class cricket, relax, and enjoy the party atmosphere. You could even have a couple of beers, and all in the name of a good cause for charity. Entrance is free, and the gates open at 12, so please come along and enjoy the day.
