Letter from Chris Reagan, 1st XI Captain

First of all I would like to congratulate all senior and junior members on last season’s performances, which lead to Morpeth CC having its most successful year for a long time. In which the first team won division A2 of the Northumberland and Tyneside Senior league and have been promoted to division A1. Therefore it is important that we commence our indoor training sessions to make sure that we are in a position not only to survive in division A1 but to go on and compete for the championship.

On that note the Newcastle Cricket Centre at South North has been booked every Monday at 8pm till 10pm for 14 weeks commencing on the 29th January. These sessions are compulsory for all senior members and will cost £5 per session.

The selection policy will remain as last year with any player less than 100% committed to the club will not play. If you are interested in representing Morpeth Cricket Club this season then this is where the campaign starts. With the success of last year’s season it is important that Morpeth Cricket Club have the desire to be the 1st division club it has promised to be for so long.

Selection will be based on performance, training and attitude not only for the first eleven but in both the seconds and thirds teams as well. If we can repeat the fantastic team feeling that surrounded the club last year then I’m sure we can be serious competitors for the championship.

One last request which I feel is as necessary to our success on the field is the support and attendance in all off field areas that the club endures. Therefore the annual attendance at the general meeting, fundraising nights and trophy presentation night is also requested. They may not always be fun, but it is part of maintaining the great club spirit that we currently have

I have also received the 2007 fixtures for the coming season which I have attached below. Further dates for you diaries are below with dates to be decided nearer the time.

March 1st 2007 - Annual Trophy Presentation Night and AGM
Early April 2007 - Pool night and pre season get together

Above all, let’s have a fantastic season.

Kind regards

Chris Reagan
