Morpeth claimed victory against Chopwell thanks to star performers Lawrence Brown and Jonny Wailes.

Wailes hit a tremendous century to ensure the home side set a defendable total, then Brown took a hat-trick and six wickets in total to help secure the win.

Batting first, Morpeth looked to start on the front foot and Wailes quickly got into his stride, with the boundary rope being hit on many occasions.

At the other end, Stephen Cowell provided solid support until he was caught on 14.

Jimmy Ingram was next man in and he scored ten, then Brown hit 15 runs before being caught off the bowling of Holt.

Max Goodings could only score three, but Wailes was firmly on top against the visitors' bowling attack and he soon brought up a well deserved century.

He was eventually dismissed for 110 from a delivery by Collingwood.

Paul Wonders provided a useful cameo of 18 and Paul Jackson hit ten, but the last three wickets went cheaply and Morpeth were all out for 208.

Owen and Collingwood both got four wickets for Chopwell and Holt took the other two.

This left the home bowlers with some work to do, but they rose to the challenge with Tom Wright taking two early wickets.

Holt was caught by Ingram off the bowling of Jackson for ten Brown bowled Haney for just one run.

Chopwell were in disarray, but opening batsman Brown and Owen steadied the ship and tried to get some momentum.

However, before they could make a huge dent in Morpeth's total, Lawrence Brown stepped up a gear and dismissed his namesake for 28 and bowled Owen for 27.

He was not finished yet though and brought the home side to the brink of victory with a fantastic hat-trick.

The last wicket stand frustrated Morpeth as Graham raced to 21 not out and Neasham looked secure.

But a bowling change came up trumps as Ben Jones bowled Neasham for 23 in his first over to secure a 73-run win.

Brown finished with figures of 6-38 off his ten overs.
